What is the age range of campers?

• Campers must be in middle or high school. Campers must have completed 6th grade to be eligible.

Where is pickup and dropoff?

• Campers need to be dropped off and picked up at Bayside Intermediate School in League City, Texas. Follow the road to Bayside until it ends at the gym. Campers can be dropped off and picked up and the gym doors.

What time does camp start and end?

• Camp starts at 9am each day.  Campers can be dropped off no earlier than 8:45am.  *There is no supervision prior to 8:45am.

• Camp ends at 3pm.  Campers need to be picked up at Bayside at the small gym doors at 3pm. 

What should campers wear?

• Campers need to wear clothes they can get wet and muddy.  We will not be swimming, but campers will get wet up to their waists on several occasions.  Bathing suit bottoms with shirts for boys and bathing suits under shorts/shirts for girls are appropriate as long as they are also comfortable for hiking.  *It is a good idea to have a change of clothes/shoes each day.

• Campers must wear shoes that tie on their feet (old tennis shoes work best).  Croc/slides are not allowed in the water, but campers can bring them for non-water activities.  Campers MUST arrive to camp each day in shoes that tie on their feet in order to board the bus for field trips.  Campers without proper footwear will be sent home.

What do campers do for lunch?

• Campers should bring lunch each day.  Lunches will stay on the bus during the day, so please do not bring anything that will melt. 

• Campers should bring plenty of water for the entire day.  Extra water can be stored on the bus, so campers can bring as much as they want. 

• Campers can choose to buy lunch at Moody Gardens on Day 4 or they can bring their own lunch. 

What should campers bring each day?

• Lunch/water 

• A change of clothes  

• A change of shoes  *Crocs/slides are okay as long as campers wear shoes that tie on their feet to camp.

• Rain jacket/pants 

• Towel (optional)

• Hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray (optional)

• Binoculars (optional)

• Spending money is not required, but we may stop at gas stations/fast food for bathrooms and campers may want money. *Some locations have gift shops.

What do we do if it rains?

• Campers need to have rain jackets/pants each day. We will be wet most of the time anyway, so a little rain won’t hurt us! 

• In the event of short-term severe weather, we will wait out quick-moving storms in a nearby facility or the bus. 

• In the event of a tropical storm or severe long-term inclement weather that affects entire camp days, we will use the Friday of the week of camp as a weather swapday. Please be prepared to use Friday if needed. 

Are there physical requirement for campers?

• The majority of this camp takes place outdoors in the heat with little or no access to air conditioning. Campers will spend the days exploring the outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Campers must be able to withstand heat, rain, humidity and bugs and be able to walk up to 3 miles per day. Campers must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.

How will we communicate during camp?

• Before camp starts, you will be emailed an access code to a SportsYou for your session. All campers and at least one parent is required to sign up for this SportsYou. Since camp schedules can change quickly due to weather conditions, immediate communication is vital. SportsYou allows camp leaders to send messages directly to parents and campers. Parents and campers can also message camp leaders with questions. Each evening, camp leaders will send out a message with all the information for the next day, including schedules, what to bring, etc.

What is the cancellation policy?

• Due to the high demand for camp spaces, all sales are considered final. Patrons who provide a written notice of cancellation to changingelevationstexas@gmail.com before April 15th will receive a 50% refund of their camp registration fees. No refunds will be issued after this date, including participants who miss all or partial programs due to illness. Changing Elevations reserves the right to cancel any program due to minimum enrollment, inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, in which case a full refund will be issued.

How should campers behave?

• Campers are expected to behave in a safe and respectful manner at all times.  If a camper behaves in a manner that is disrespectful or unsafe, parents will be called to pick up the camper. Disrespectful or unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.

Will campers have fun?

• Absolutely!  Our days will be packed with hands-on activities that allow campers to see local wildlife up close.  For kids who love to be outdoors, wet, dirty and digging in the mud, this camp is for YOU!
