Swamp Explorers
Zoology and Ecology Camp
Join us for three days of explorations in the swamp. We will be traveling around the area to see different swamp ecosystems and observe all the creepy creatures who live there! *This camp is for middle and high school students.
Itinerary
Day 1:
Learn how to use seine nets and dip nets by collecting fish, shrimp, crabs and other organisms in the wetland.
Explore the internal anatomy of a creepy creature by dissecting a bullfrog.
Day 2:
Slog through the bayou with seine nets and dip nets at Armand Bayou Nature Center in search of pipefish and other bayou inhabitants.
Observe alligators, snakes and other swamp residents in their natural habitat on the Seabrook Nature Trail.
Day 3:
Tour the Crocodile Encounter in Angleton to learn the similarities and differences between alligators and crocodiles.
Observe and feed some of the swampy residents of the Crocodile Encounter.
